Mussman Architects PA provided architectural design services for this growing charter school needing a new campus in Florence, South Carolina. Utilizing a Design-Build approach, this new K8 facility includes over 55,000 sqft of space. To meet the demanding schedule and budget, the design team focused on using materials that have quick erection times. We utilized the concrete panels to create unique architectural features with changes in vertical and horizontal planes, color variations to break the scale down, and clean articulated lines to add interest. The interior features ample glass to allow natural light to flow throughout the school building. Softer wood tones with the flooring contrast with the industrial nature of the exposed structure to balance the feel of the space. The facility includes classrooms, science labs, PE gymnasium, full size cafeteria, kitchen, and more.
